Besides sport specific training, In my opinion the top 3 most beneficial training styles to develop pure athleticism are as follows: *Not in priority order
➡️HEAVY COMPOUND MOVEMENTS W/ ACCOMODATING RESISTANCE
Strength is the foundation for all fitness components, you can not bring out your full athletic potential unless you first have an appropriate level of strength first! Apply resistance through ALL human primal movement patterns. Utilise a periodisation technique to ensure long term progression, strength training is MUCH MORE than simply lifting heavy weights! Accommodating resistance = the use of bands and chains. These tools allow us to control deceleration and acceleration while moving loads increasing strength over a short amount of time!
Jump training easily translates into sport specific movements and strongly correlates with the demands of multiple sports not to mention plyometrics help increase the fast twitch muscle fibres in the body which in turn will develop explosiveness and speed. Plyometrics movements can also be tailored to ensure movement development through multiple movement planes creating multi-directional athletes!
A good majority of sports require rest and recuperation (repeated efforts) during in game scenarios meaning it is important to increase their lactic threshold to be able to perform each effort at the same intensity. Sprint training requires every muscle in your body to be working in order to perform a full-effort sprint ensuring both neurological and metabolic beneficial adaptations!
✏️These methods are all aligned with the#HVCFitness training approach which combines; powerlifting, circuit/HIIT, calisthenics and plyometrics into an effective hybrid style. Whether the goal is purely body composition related or performance driven, I practice what I preach because it works and people get results with me because it works, simple as that! 💪👌
